Edwin Taegel, MD
Dr. Taegel trained at Houston's Baylor College of Medicine, as did many of his colleagues, and has been practicing orthopedic surgery and sports medicine since 1968. He prides himself on being a caring, personable, empathetic orthopedic surgeon who feels great joy and personal satisfaction from returning his Houston patients to active health.
His goal is to provide high quality medical care delivered in a compassionate manner in an environment far removed from the traffic and congestion of the Texas Medical Center, where he received his medical and orthopedic training.
In addition to his experience as a general orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Taegel is one of the original pioneers in the field of Arthroscopic Surgery in the United States. Starting in 1973, he, along with several other surgeons in private practice, helped develop the minimally invasive technology that was later adopted by hospitals nationwide.
This makes Dr. Taegel an arthroscopic surgeon with a difference. He's been there since the beginning, and has seen the role of the arthroscopic surgeon, and the surgery itself, expand throughout sports and orthopedic medicine. Widely published, Dr. Taegel continues to be a voice on the cutting edge of new advancements in the field.Dr. Taegel trained at Houston’s Baylor College of Medicine, as did many of his colleagues, and has been practicing orthopedic surgery and sports medicine since 1968.
